Braverman Resigns Over Technical Infringement
Suella Braverman has resigned as home secretary after sending an official document from her personal email address. In a stinging resignation letter, Braverman accused Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of breaking a key promise by raising taxes, and said she could "no longer serve" in his government.
Braverman Lashes Out at Sunak
In her resignation letter, Braverman criticized Sunak's economic policies, calling them "a betrayal" of the Conservative Party's values. She also said that the government was "not taking the necessary steps" to control immigration, and accused Sunak of "squandering" the opportunity to "deliver on the promise of Brexit."
Parting Shot at Truss
Braverman also took aim at Liz Truss, who resigned as prime minister just last month. Braverman said that Truss's premiership had been "tumultuous" and that she had "lost the confidence of her own party." She added that Sunak had made a "mistake" by appointing Truss as prime minister.
